Ursuline College sophomore Bea Indurain has been named the Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday (Feb. 4) morning. She is the second different Arrow to win the award this year after classmate Nicole Burlinson received the honor twice (Dec. 10, 2013 and Jan. 21, 2014).
Indurain was recognized for her performance at the Midwest Open, hosted Saturday (Feb. 1) at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
In the 60 meter hurdles prelims, she took eighth of 43 participants to qualify for the finals with her time of 9.23. In the finals, her 9.21 was good for seventh.
Indurain covered the 60 meter dash in 8.22 seconds, inching out her previous all-time best of 8.23 set two weeks ago at SPIRE. That time is the fourth best ever by an Arrow.
A tremendous athlete, Indurain also improved her previous best long jump effort. She took ninth of 46 student-athletes on Saturday when she cleared 5.20 meters, slotting her second in program history.
