Four members of the Ursuline College softball program were honored by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Thursday (May 1) evening. Junior outfielder Sam Roberts was named to the all-conference second team while sophomore Alison Porter joined freshmen Brittany Humbel and Dagmar Smith on the honorable mention list.
Roberts is the first Arrow softball player to earn all-conference honors. She hit .358 (39-109) and led the team with 18 runs scored and 48 total bases. Roberts also drove in 12 runs, the third most on the team, and swiped two bases.
Porter had a tremendous season. After hitting .213 last year as a freshman, she led the 2014 club with a .364 batting average. She drove in a team-high 20 runs and was second on the team behind Roberts in total bases (41), hits (36) and runs (16).
Humbel tied for the team lead with three wins in the circle and she recorded 35 strikeouts. Offensively, she belted a team-best seven doubles while hitting .245 with 14 RBI and 12 runs scored.
Smith, like Humbel and senior Sarah Maxwell, was the winning pitcher three times. At the plate, she was third on the club with a .326 batting average and had an on-base percentage of .379. She scored 13 times.
