Ursuline College senior forward Paige Rowan (Concord Township, Ohio/Lake Catholic) has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week after scoring three goals to help the Arrows go two-for-two in non-conference games last week. This is the fourth time in her career that she has earned the weekly award.
UC earned wins over West Liberty (Mountain East) and Walsh (GLIAC) to run its record to 3-1 on the young year.
Rowan scored an unassisted goal in a 3-0 win over West Liberty and then scored both goals against Walsh in a tight 2-1 victory at home. Her first score came on a header off a pass from junior Vanessa Consiglio. After Walsh tied the game, it took just three minutes and one second for Rowan to score what proved to be the game-winner.
The Cavaliers had defeated the Arrows in each of the first eight meetings in the series but over the past three seasons, Ursuline is 2-0-1 against Walsh – the alma mater of head coach Jason Kubbins.
Rowan has scored a goal in each of the first four games this season and she leads the conference with five goals and 10 points.
